Grammar Police Check


Here’s a bit of fun for English teachers (others can play along too). How many grammatical mistakes can you spot in the following application letter and, for the bonus round: would you offer them a job teaching English?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am ________ from _______. An University Rank Holder.

Am a Teacher with B.E degree. My University percentage is 80% out of 100%.

Am interested in applying for a “Teaching position”.

As a 2011 graduate of _________________, I have teaching experience for 5 years.

Am able to start as an English, also can teach Maths as well as Computer Science because of my Engineering Degree and vast hands on experience,.

Especially Holding “HSC Certificate in Biology Major”. So am ready and can manage as a “Science Teacher(Physics/Chemistry/Biology) well.

I can teach Social studies(History/Civics/Geography) also,.

FYI, Having much knowledge in Adult Mathematics such as M1, M2, M3,Probability, NM, DM concept as well as queuing theory.

I am challenged to be creative, nurturing and most of all, patient.

It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to your school.
