Sum of Us

Once upon a time I was a right-thinking liberal. Back then it was all golden and rainbows and unicorns.

Then the Left changed from solidarity for the working class and representing their interest against Capital to some weird identity politics cult that no-one really gave a shit about except its narcissist exponents desperate to make themselves Feel Important by shutting everyone else up.

i mean, shutting the fuck up.

Seriously.

Shut the fuck up.

Listen to me.

I am endlessly fascinating.

Go home. You’re drunk.

That kind of thing.

No, you are a limited shelf-life skin-suit of no consequence like the billions and billions before and after.

Grow up.

The organisation sumofus was quite good for signing up to meaningless petitions that might have made their adherents feel good about themselves momentarily before going on to their next bout of virtue signalling on Facebook.

I have signed many of their petitions:

Let’s stop this. Let’s stop that. Don’t kill the bees and/or world with it. Fair enough.

Receiving this email today, I am unsubscribing from it entirely. I don’t even care for Trump, really. But he hasn’t even stepped foot in office yet. Give the cunt a chance.

That email:

Rick,

Breitbart News, the extreme far right news website that helped elect Donald Trump, is trying to fast-track a global expansion starting with France and Germany in time for key elections in early 2017.

But Breitbart can only go ahead with its global expansion if it has the money to do so.

Here’s where we come in: people power has already forced 200 corporations including BMW, Dutch Telecom (owned by T-Mobile) and Kelloggs to drop Breitbart — and now, we are going to force Amazon to follow suit.

Amazon is receiving loads of online pressure already — and if we add our voices from across the planet now, we can make sure it can’t ignore us anymore.
Tell Amazon: stop investing in hate. Pull your advertising from Breitbart now.

Breitbart spits the most hateful stuff you’ve ever heard — everything from attacks on LGBTQ+ folks to claiming that contraception makes women “sluts”.

Breitbart’s hatred and vitriol may even directly violate Amazon’s own principles around acceptable advertising. Amazon’s own policy states: it will not tolerate “[c]ontent that is threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, or that incites violence or intolerance, or that advocates or discriminates against a protected group, whether based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age or other category.”

A powerful grassroots campaign is gaining traction through social media pushing companies to pull advertising from Breitbart. And it’s working. Already over 200 corporations have pulled out of Breitbart, and the list is growing by the day. Together, we can add Amazon to that list.

SumOfUs members are fighting hatred and discrimination worldwide. With massive public pressure, we’re going to force corporations to take responsibility for how they advertise, and will keep up our fight to stop Breitbart’s global expansion.

Let’s come together to make Amazon stop advertising with Breitbart, and show the world that people power trumps hate.

Join us in demanding Amazon pull its advertising from Breitbart.

Thanks for all that you do,

Emma and the rest of the SumOfUs team

My reply:

You have characterised brietbart as hate and are campaigning against it.

While I do not agree with all of its articles, I believe fully in the right to free speech whether one agrees with it or not.

Your childish and leftist offence at people saying things you don’t like put you on the wrong side of history.

Shame. You had a lot of potential. I always view those who use the word ‘hate’ in demonising their opponents as the most hateful of all.

Ta ra
